DJ Envy has taken to the airwaves to deny his involvement in an alleged real estate Ponzi scheme.

The Breakfast Club host has been named alongside self-proclaimed real estate guru Cesar Pina in multiple civil cases filed in recent months.

Envy has been accused of being complicit in a New Jersey-based multi-million dollar real estate investment scam.

However, The Queens, New York, native says the accusations are false and defamatory. In fact, he claims to also be a victim of Pina’s, who often took to his Instagram to share photos of himself with hip-hop celebrities like Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Post Malone, Meek Mill, and DJ Envy.

On Wednesday, the radio host opened up about the scandal after NBC local affiliate New York 4 aired an investigative piece titled, “Real estate rip-off? Radio DJ promoted alleged NJ scheme leaving investors out of millions” on Tuesday night.

The segment included interviews with multiple alleged victims with one couple saying they only invested with Pina “after seeing him on social media with DJ Envy.”

During the radio show, Envy said: “Cesar, if he took money, I wasn’t privy to it, nor did I even know. But I do understand how people feel if they did give him money because I gave him a lot of money [and] I didn’t see a dollar of return. But for anybody to say that I was involved, that’s totally not true.”

In court docs Envy’s lawyers say their client was also “lured” to invest $500,000 in a separate project and just like the plaintiffs, he too “may be a victim of the Pina’s alleged fraudulent conduct.”

In recent months, at least 20 civil cases have been filed against Pina, who claims to own 1,100 rental properties in Paterson, New Jersey, alone.

Many of the lawsuits name DJ Envy (née RaaShaun Casey) as a co-defendant, citing his close ties to Pina.

A case filed by music industry veteran Anthony Martini claims that Envy helped to promote Pina’s business by having him on the DJ’s popular nationally syndicated morning radio show.

Martini’s lawyers specifically cited a 2022 appearance in which Pina was there to promote the investment platform Flip 2 Dao.

They also claimed that over 30 victims had come forward seeking more than $40 million including one case that says Envy “aided and abetted” the fraudsters by “using his public likeness as a well-known radio disc jockey to promote their real estate scheme.”

Envy has clapped back by suing media influencer Tony Robinson, who took to his Instagram back in May to accuse the DJ of being a “thief,” “criminal,” and “scammer,” which set off a barrage of lawsuits, countersuits, bankruptcies, and media mayhem.

The suit claims that Robinson “spewed” lies to promote his own real estate business. Envy is demanding to be dismissed from the investor lawsuits.

“They’re sensationalizing this situation,” said Envy’s lawyer, Massimo F. D’Angelo told Billboard. “Envy had no involvement whatsoever. The only reason he’s being dragged into this is because he’s a public figure.”

The U.S. Sun has reached out to DJ Envy’s management team for comment but has received no response as of publication.
