A WALMART shopper has shared his frustration after he was banned from a store for a year even though he didn’t commit a crime.

Leroy Jackson was banned from a Walmart in Georgia after he was accused of shoplifting despite not stealing anything from the retailer.

Jackson said he was subjected to a police search on October 5 after employees reported that two shoplifters were on the premises.

While leaving the store, Jackson was stopped by a cop, who told him he “fit the description” of a shoplifting suspect, he told Atlanta ABC affiliate WSB-TV.

Jackson said that he believes he was targeted because of his race.

“I do feel like it was profiling,” said Jackson.

“It’s really embarrassing. I feel very humiliated.”

Jackson said that while he was shopping, a man approached him and asked him about an item in the store.

He quickly referred the unidentified man to a Walmart employee to answer his question.

The man who had spoken with Jackson was a homeless person who was later arrested for stealing $214 worth of items, according to Suwanee police.

The exchange between the two men was caught on camera, and Walmart associates assumed they were working together, Jackson said.

However, Jackson was quick to clarify that he had never met the man before that day.

“Total stranger,” he said. “I don’t know the guy at all.”

A police report obtained by WSB proved that Jackson did not take anything from the store.

“I did not find any property that belonged to Walmart,” an officer wrote in the report.

“Walmart advised they wanted Jackson criminally trespassed because they stated they saw him associating with another male in the store that had stolen merchandise.”

When Jackson spoke to a store manager, he was reportedly told that the ban could not be reversed.

“I guess it kind of felt like, ‘Oh, so he’s African-American along with another African-American who actually was stealing, so he’s automatically a suspect.'”

Jackson said that he is upset with how the major retailer handled the situation.

“Police did everything they were supposed to do,” Jackson said.

“My beef is not with police. It’s with Walmart, period.”

He said that he will not be shopping at Walmart again, even after the one-year ban is over.

“If you are African-American or a person of color, just be careful who you speak to, because you will be automatically lumped up with them,” he said.

A Walmart spokesperson told WSB that they were looking into the matter and referred him to the Suwanee police report but declined to comment further.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Walmart and Suwanee police for comment.
