Kevin Porter Jr. is becoming an NBA free agent following accusations that he beat his girlfriend in a Manhattan hotel on September 11.
The Houston Rockets are trading Porter to the Oklahoma City Thunder, who plan on releasing the former USC star, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Victor Oladipo and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl will be going to Houston as part of the deal, while Oklahoma City acquires a pair of future second-round picks.
Porter had been asked to stay away from the Rockets following last month’s arrest in Manhattan, when he was accused of attacking his girlfriend, former WNBA star Kysre Gondrezick.
On Monday, New York City prosecutors reduced assault charges against Porter after discovering that he did not break a vertebrae in Gondrezick’s neck, as had originally been reported. Porter is due back in court on November 27.
