Sophia Bush has reportedly sparked up a budding romance with women’s soccer star Ashlyn Harris.

The 41-year-old actress and the 37-year-old athlete ‘are officially a thing’ – according to TMZ. 

‘After being friends for years, and running in the same social circles, Sophia and Ashlyn went out on their first dinner date a couple of weeks ago,’ a source told People, noting the romance is ‘recent’. 

The One Tree Hill alum and the athlete certainly have plenty in common, as they are both recently divorced.

WHERE IS ASHLYN HARRIS FROM? AND WHAT WAS HER CHILDHOOD LIKE?

Ashlyn was born to Tammye and Mike Harris in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

The 5′ 9″ sportswoman has an older brother named Chris.

The athlete played club soccer with the boys’ teams until the age of 14, and in 2003, she won the state championship with the U-17 Indialantic Force.  

Harris attended Satellite High School in Satellite Beach, helping her team win championships in her sophomore and junior year, 2002 and 2003. 

In 2004, Soccer America called her ‘the nation’s No. 1 recruit for 2004.’

Harris was also the first female to be named to four consecutive Parade All-American soccer teams.

HARRIS’ IMPRESSIVE SOCCER CAREER 

Harris joined Orlando Pride National Women’s Soccer League in 2016, and remained there until 2021.

The star, who also became the first NWSL player to reach 500 saves, was named NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year in 2016.

The former U.S. women’s national team goalkeeper retired at the end of 2022 after 12 professional seasons.

She made 25 appearances for the USWNT and is a two-time World Cup winner.

WHO IS ASHLYN’S EX-WIFE? AND DO THEY HAVE CHILDREN? 

Harris was married to fellow soccer star Ali Krieger for nearly four years, with the two women dating for a total of 13 years.

Fellow soccer player Megan Rapinoe served as Harris’s maid of honor 

However the marriage wouldn’t last, and Harris filed for divorce from Krieger, 39, on September 19, saying their union was ‘irretrievably broken.’

The former goalkeeper and the NJ/NY Gotham FC center back are co-parents of two small children – daughter Sloane Phillips Krieger-Harris, 2; and son Ocean Maeve Krieger-Harris, 15 months – whom they adopted in 2021 and 2022. 

Like her new amour, Bush is also recently divorced.

The actress filed for divorce from her husband Grant Hughes on August 4 after 13 months of marriage, but they planned on ‘continuing to run’ their non-profit Bush Hughes Foundation for Progress together.

‘Sophia and Grant were friends for 10 years and bonded during COVID through their love of community service,’ a source close to the couple told People at the time.

It was technically the SoCal native’s second marriage after divorcing her fellow One Tree Hill co-star Chad Michael Murray in 2006 after just five months. 

There is ‘no salacious story’ when it comes to the timing of their alleged romance according to People.

A source said: ‘Although it’s new information to the public, Ashlyn and Ali’s divorce began months ago and they have been living apart since the summer.’

HOW DID ASHLYN’S WIFE REACT TO THE NEWS OF HER ROMANCE WITH SOPHIA? 

Though Krieger has not made a public statement about the reported new romance, she took to Instagram following the news to share a timely quote.

‘Sleep well tonight, sis. Major shifts are happening. Things are changing. Doors are opening,’ it read.

She also shared a clip of herself celebrating a soccer game win.

Aside from her love of soccer, Ashlyn is passionate about fashion.

Her National Team US Soccer profile states that she has ‘a knack for mixing costume jewelry with designer clothing to craft a style that is both individually creative and impressively chic.’

Harris has had an interest in fashion since grade school, when she would ‘use markers and patches to spruce up her clothes.’

The World Cup winner ‘sees fashion as a great avenue for self-expression.’
