A NEIGHBORHOOD has gone up in arms over creepy Halloween decorations displayed in one resident’s yard – some have gone to the cops but received a ridiculous response.
For years, Kenneth Cain’s spooky decor has left his neighbors in Lakeland, Florida a bit uncomfortable.
“It does freak some neighbors out. But I’m right here if they want to ask,” he told a local NBC affiliate.
“I’ll be more than glad to tell them.”
About 100 bald and naked dolls can be seen hanging from a tree in Cain’s front yard.
He said it was a reference to “The Island of Dolls” in Mexico.
The island belonged to Don Julián Santana Barrera, a recluse who was said to have come across a girl floating in the canals but couldn’t save her from drowning.
The next day, Barrera supposedly found a doll floating down the canal and believed it to be the girl who died and hung it from a tree in her memory to ward off evil spirits.
“[It is in] observance or attention to child neglect, child abuse, child abandonment, child slave labor,” said Cain, who is a father himself.
“Anything to do with kids that’s wrong or bad.”
Cain has dangled the dolls on his tree since 2020.
However, Mack Milner, a neighbor, claimed that Cain’s display promoted violence and crime.

Milner told the outlet he tried to get officials to force Cain to get rid of the dolls while also planning to change ordinances in the future.
“These dolls are naked. They’re little children and they’re showing scenes of torture,” said Milner.
Kevin Smith, another neighbor said the display was “kind of creepy.”
“It’s very unpleasant to drive by and look at that,” he said. “I’m just glad he lives toward the back of the neighborhood so I don’t have to drive by it every day.”
Cain understands his neighbors’ concerns, saying that he understands why it would make some people uncomfortable.
He added, though, that his display doesn’t bother everyone and in fact, he gets a lot of trick-or-treaters on Halloween among other visitors.
“This was the goth girl selfie station,” he said.
However, Cain revealed that this is the last time he will doing this particular display.
A box full of dolls will be left at the end of his driveway for his neighbors on November 1, the day after Halloween.
“Last year, I did skeletons on stripper poles or maybe that will make a comeback next year,” he said.
A spokesperson from the local sheriff’s office said that the office doesn’t exactly know what Cain is displaying but that “freedom of speech does allow for a lot.”
