In a clip, Justin complained about using self-checkout whenever he goes shopping.

“Navigating the self-checkout of grocery stores is like tiptoeing through a minefield of stressors,” he said.

Justin explained that he uses self-checkout because he doesn’t want to have to make conversation with a cashier sometimes.

However, he argued that stores design self-checkout aisles to be small.

“It’s like trying to fit into an economy seat on an airplane,” he said.

Justin claimed that customers have to play Tetris with their groceries just to scan all their items.

“And one small little thing of yogurt might be the thing that makes the computer freak out,” he added, referring to instances where a customer might forget to scan a small item.

Justin also claimed that “noise pollution” was an issue as well.

He said the machines at self-checkout are loud, comparing it to an opera singer.

“Screaming at you to place your bananas in the bag,” he joked.

“Congratulations, now everybody knows I’m buying some fruit.”

He also complained about feeling the “judgmental eyes” of other customers waiting for their turn on the machine.

Justin says this causes him to speed through his transaction, which could end up causing him to miss an item.

In the event an issue at checkout arises, an employee will come to speak to the customer, which Justin said was what he wanted to avoid in the first place.

“It’s just not fun.”
