Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers has returned to work despite still undergoing treatment for cancer.

In May 2022 the TV chef, 65, went public with his devastating diagnosis.

During an appearance on Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Zoe Hardman, Dave and co-star Si King spoke about the upcoming series.

Dave and Si, 57, met on the set of a TV drama back in 1995 and have been cooking and riding together ever since.

Dave admitted returning to the hit BBC 2 show was “hard”, confessing he even “shed a tear” when they got “back on the bikes”.

Heart radio presenter Jamie, 52, asked Dave: “How important has it been having your best mate by your side over the last 12 months?”

Dave was quick to credit his best mate and said it’s “crucial” to have Si by his side. He went on to add: “My best mate and my family, that’s what sees you through. I say it’s work in progress.”

Jamie quipped that he “looked good”.

Co-star Zoe, 40, added: “I was about to say, how do you feel day-to-day? Because you’ve got a real sparkle in your eye today.”

The biker revealed: Yeah I’m alright, we’ve been filming. We’ve got the Christmas special, we filmed a series for next year. It was hard going, but then to get back on the bikes… It was just epic.”

“I remember we were just off the Isle of Bute, and we’re on the bikes for the first time and I’m following down the road and the familiar shape that I’ve seen for the past 20 years.”

Simon was quick to point out that even he felt emotional when they went back to film.

Dave said: “We got on the ferry and we had a man-hug and a bit of a tear.”

Earlier this year, the chef said that his cancer treatment was gruelling, and it affected his ability to walk.

Dave had to re-learn how to do so after undergoing multiple rounds of chemotherapy.

While speaking on the How To Be 60 podcast, he told Kaye Adams: “By God, the chemotherapy doesn’t half age you quickly. Because your balance goes, so for someone with a motorbike that’s a disaster, and my walking has been affected quite a lot, really.”

He went on to add that despite not having any “symptoms of the cancer”, the chemotherapy affected “neuropathy” in his feet, making it “hard to stand”.
