A SURFER has been attacked by a shark and begged locals in the area to ‘stay close, don’t leave me.’
A man from Spain,30 was shocked when he suffered from a huge shark bite in his thigh while swimming at Pua’ena Point in Hawaii.
Witnesses believe that the victim was bitten by a juvenile tiger shark that had been in the area, according to Hawaii News Now.
The 30-year-old was immediately rushed to the hospital and was said to be in serious condition.
Another person who was at the beach at the time posted to a Facebook group describing the scary moment they discovered the brutalized man.
“It was me and 4 people out at the peak and a big set wave broke a little further than we were sitting so basically everyone was off their boards after it then he came up and started screaming ‘shark’ and at first we didn’t realize he was bitten and I asked how big it was then he was like ‘stay close, don’t leave me.’ ” They explained.

“And the other guy asked if he’d been bitten and he pulled up his swim shorts and had a big bite taken out of his thigh so we all paddled in together and the surf lesson guys did a tourniquet with a leash.”
Andrew Rossiter, director of the Waikiki Aquarium, explained that shark attacks by tiger sharks are common in October.
“Tiger shark attacks are known to be more abundant during this month because October and November are when the large females migrate down from the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands,” he told Hawaii News Now.
This news is following Kevin Kanehe, 50, who felt a tiger shark clamp on his leg while at Hanalei Bay on the island of Kauai, according to local CBS News affiliate KGMB.
The attack took place on October 15, and Kanehe had to fight for his life. The surfer had to put his fingers in the shark’s nose to push it away and escape.
He was able to make it back to shore and immediately get medical attention.
“The bite went to the bone above and below his knee, taking some chips off his femur, knee cap, and tibia,” Kanehe’s wife Deanna said on a GoFundMe page raising money for his medical expenses.
The doctor told the outlet that if the surfer didn’t put up the fight he did, he could have lost his leg.
