THE CEO of Twitch has broken his silence following another scandal involving Adin Ross, who was kicked out of a popular fan convention over the weekend.

TwitchCon 2023 took place in Las Vegas, Nevada, where fans traveled all over to meet their favorite streamers.

However, drama ensued when Adin Ross, a controversial streamer with millions of followers across social media, entered the convention with an entourage of other creators.

The group was wearing shirts featuring the name of Twitch’s biggest competitor, Kick, before they were kicked out.

Many speculated Adin was removed for wearing the Kick merch but Twitch CEO Dan Clancy revealed the actual reason in a live stream.

Clancy held a two-hour stream recapping TwitchCon and answering questions from the chat when one person asked him to give a response as to why Adin and his friends were removed from the event.

“It had nothing to do with their t-shirts. Actually, there were a lot of folks inside that had Kick T-shirts,” said Clancy, adding that he even ran into a person on the street who had been streaming on Kick while going to the convention.

Clancy explained that the group ” fraudulently obtained” tickets to the convention, which goes against Twitch’s policies.

“If you’re permanently banned then you can’t get a ticket so they used false accounts,” he said.

“That’s part of the agreement when you get the tickets, that you’re not going to be falsely identifying yourself.”

Adin was permanently banned from Twitch in February after one of his live streams featured a chat box from Kick full of offensive slurs typed by viewers.

That month he signed an exclusive deal with Kick for an undisclosed amount but claimed at the time that it was the largest deal in streaming history.

Adin responded to Clancy’s claim, denying that the Kick shirts had nothing to do with him being removed.

He said that some members of his group were actually Twitch partners at the time and he was the only member that was banned from the platform.

However, viewers of Clancy’s stream reacted positively to his statement, thanking him for being transparent with the community.

“Makes sense. Thank you for clarifying this Dan! Some people are just really emotional when it comes to other streamers,” wrote a viewer.

Others sided with Adin, finding it unfair that his friends were removed as well.

“He didn’t answer the question,” wrote another viewer. “He banned them because he’s salty that they promoted Kick by wearing those clothes with Adin being the biggest Kick streamer. Simple as that.”

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Adin Ross and Twitch for comment.
