Just two weeks ago, with Taylor Swift in the audience, the Kansas City Chiefs made relatively easy work of the struggling Denver Broncos.
Cut to this Sunday – where the Chiefs ended up falling to the same team on the road in Colorado.Â
While many factors could be at play – the weather, the cold, the lack of oxygen – these struggles follow a pattern that has been pointed out a few times in the weeks prior: KC just doesn’t play that well when Swift isn’t there.
Going into halftime, KC was down 14-9 to Denver in frigid conditions after the city was pelted with nearly eight inches of snow.
By the time the game ended, the Chiefs didn’t score any more points as they fell 24-9 to the Broncos.
THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY. MORE TO FOLLOW.Â

Travis Kelce and the Chiefs are struggling in the first half in Denver this weekend

It’s the first time in three weeks that Taylor Swift (L) decided to not attend a Chiefs game

There’s been a pattern of Kelce playing better for KC when Swift is in attendance

But the Broncos and QB Russell Wilson (3) have been doing more with less and took the lead
Travis Kelce was not playing like his typically dominant self – continuing a trend of underwhelming performances whenever his girlfriend is not there.
At the half, the tight end had just five catches for 50 yards as KC quarterback Patrick Mahomes struggled.Â
Mahomes had tossed for just 167 yards and an interception going into the break, completing 16 of 20 passes.
His counterpart, Denver QB Russell Wilson completed only eight passes for 97 yards, but managed two passing touchdowns to take the lead.
Kelce has not always put up the greatest performances when Swift has been away. The last game she missed – a road trip to Minnesota – saw Travis haul in ten catches for 67 yards.
Swift attended the next two games, with Kelce hauling in nine catches for 124 yards in a win over Denver at home and then 12 catches for 179 yards and a touchdown the week after that against the Chargers.
