MASS shootings over the weekend have left at least 11 people dead with scores more injured as Halloween parties ended in violence.

The nationwide gun violence came just days after the most fatal shooting of 2023 that left 18 people dead rocked the state of Maine.

On early Sunday morning, one person was killed and another nine were injured when gunfire ripped through a large gathering in Indianapolis, Indiana, police said.

It’s unclear what led up to the shooting, and victims were as young as 16 years old.

Mayor Joe Hogsett said in a statement that he was “angry” after hearing of the violence, and continued: “There are far too many guns in the hands of those who have no business having them.”

The same day in Tampa, Florida, two groups of people began firing at each other while hundreds of people were walking out of bars and nightclubs at around 3am, police said.

Two people were killed and at least 16 others were injured with the victims aged from 16 to 27.

A 22-year-old suspect was arrested and has been charged with murder, Tampa police said.

Tampa mayor Jane Castor described the event as yet another “senseless loss of life” that required the assistance of 50 officers to quell.

“Lives lost and others forever changed. To what end?” she wrote on X.

Another manhunt has been launched after gun violence at a party in Texarkana, Texas, claimed the lives of three and injured another three, according to police.

Rifles were drawn by partygoers after a fistfight between two men broke out, leaving one man dead at the scene and others fighting for their lives.

Officials are now looking for 20-year-old Breoskii Warren who they believe was involved with the killings.

Meanwhile, in San Antonio, a child was left orphaned by a shooting that killed both of her parents, police said.

All three family members were at a house party at around 10pm when a shooting broke out, leaving five people struck, CNN reports.

After the entire family was hit, the father pulled out a gun and fired back at the shooter before dying of his injuries, authorities said.

The states were wrecked by 12 mass shootings this weekend, which is defined as any incident where four or more people are shot, excluding the shooter, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

The U.S. has seen at least 580 reported mass shootings this year.

The shootings came after the country was devastated by a night of violence believed to be at the hands of Robert Card.

Police believe that Card stormed a bowling alley and then a bar in Lewiston on Wednesday night, killing a combined 18 people at both locations.

The suspect initially escaped the scene of the crime but was found dead from what police believe to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound 48 hours after a regional manhunt mobilized hundreds in search of the killer.

Maine governor Janet Mills described the events as a “dark day” for her home state while search crews tore through small towns and urged families to shelter in place.

“This city did not deserve this terrible assault on its citizens, on its peace of mind, on its sense of security,” she said.

“No city does – no state, no people.”
