The trial is set to be one of the biggest in Las Vegas history.

THE man charged with the murder of Tupac Shakur will face trial on June 3rd next year.

Self-confessed Compton gangster Keefe D – sometimes spelled Keffe D – appeared at Clark County District Court in Nevada on Tuesday to learn when he can begin his fight for freedom.

The 60-year-old maintains his innocence and pleaded not guilty last week, despite his many admissions in media interviews to playing a key role in the killing of the rap icon Tupac.

Public defenders Robert Arroyo and Charles Cano were assigned to Keefe at his arraignment last week.

He had expressed his hope to rehire Vegas high profile lawyer Ross Goodman, his counsel briefly last month.

It’s expected the trial, which many believe will be as high profile as O.J Simpson’s 2008 trial and conviction for armed robbery and kidnapping in Las Vegas, could last “a few months”.

Keefe has enjoyed the limelight from his connection to Tupac, even telling the officers who arrested him in September it was the “biggest case in Las Vegas history”.

Keefe first pleaded not guilty to the murder at his arraignment on November 2 – despite admitting in interviews and his book Compton Street Legend that he was in the car when shots were fired at Tupac 27 years ago.
