A FORMER treasurer of a homeowner’s association has pled guilty to swindling more than $200,000 from four members of the organization.

Sharon Lee Ann Gordon, 66, moved the money to her personal account and wrote checks to herself and her boyfriend, prosecutors in Utah said.

She stole more than $232,000 from four accounts belonging to the Lava Bluff homeowner’s association in Hurricane between 2016 and 2022, according to court docs seen by The U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Utah.

Prosecutors said the funds were wired electronically.

The legal papers also claimed that Gordon wrote checks to casinos from accounts belonging to the Lava Bluff homeowner’s association.

Tim Mullicane told the Fox affiliate KSTU that his checks were being deposited next to a casino in Mesquite, Nevada – located around 80 miles from Las Vegas.

He said he spent years urging the homeowner’s association to investigate the missing funds.

Mullicane added: “Honestly, I was just kind of told I didn’t know what I was talking about.”

He said that he had brought up the issue at several board meetings.

Meanwhile, homeowner Ken Alderman claimed Gordon’s activities sounded “fishy.”

Prosecutors said Gordon falsely claimed on her April 2022 tax form that her income for 2021 was $13,502.

Her income was at least $20,000 more than that figure.

She has also been accused of failing to report income between 2017 and 2021 in a bid to defraud the homeowner’s association.

Gordon has pled guilty to charges of wire fraud and making false statements on her tax returns.

As part of her penalties, she has been ordered to pay more than $20,000 to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Gordon has paid more than $160,000 to the homeowner’s association but must fork out another $63,448.32, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors said that Gordon abused her position within the homeowner’s association.

Steve Solyom, who previously served on the HOA board with Gordon, told KSTU last year: “I wouldn’t have imagined that she would do something like this.”

U.S. Attorney Trina A Higgins said the FBI Salt Lake City field office and the IRS’ Criminal Investigation unit are involved in the probe.

It’s not yet known when Gordon will be sentenced, but she could face up to 20 years in prison.

The Lava Bluff mobile park is home to citizens aged 55 or over.
