A MIGRANT rapist whose deportation was thwarted by woke airline passengers five years ago has finally been sent home – at a cost of £1million to taxpayers.

Yaqub Ahmed, 34, racked up the mammoth bill in legal, prison and deportation costs before finally being sent back to Somalia on a chartered flight in August.

The monster had initially been put on a commercial flight in 2018 – but virtue-signalling holidaygoers mutinied and demanded he be taken off the plane.

Shocking footage showed passengers applauding as Home Office workers frogmarched him off the flight, shouting “You’re free, man!”.

Harrowing details of his crime have since emerged – he and three men lured a 16-year-old girl into a London flat before brutally attacking her in 2008.

During his court hearing, a judge slammed him for having “no respect for other human beings”.

In the five years since he was ‘freed’ by his fellow passengers, the rapist cost taxpayers £1million.

The giant sum includes £85,000 in legal aid and £200,00 for his eventual chartered flight.

Upon arriving in his home country, he was treated to a 14-week stay in a plush hotel with armed guards and a personalised therapy package – all at the expense of British taxpayers.

Shockingly, BBC Africa Editor Mary Harper was paid to give evidence for Ahmed – only for her testimony to be heavily criticised by a judge.

And Ahmed’s victim has slammed the British justice system, telling the Mail on Sunday it “isn’t fit for purpose”.

She added: “The fact they had to give him this outrageous package to be able to remove him is ridiculous.

“I’m grateful they did everything they did because we are finally rid of him but they shouldn’t have had to do that.”
