ONLY a few US Presidents are still living, and the oldest living president recently celebrated his 99th birthday.
Former President Jimmy Carter became the longest-living US president at 94 years and 172 days old on March 22, 2019.
Who is the oldest living US President?
The oldest living US President is Jimmy Carter.
Carter was the nation’s 39th president.
He was a Democrat, and served one term between 1988 – 1981.
He was succeeded by Ronald Reagan.
Since leaving office, Carter and his wife, Rosalynn Carter, launched the Carter Center in 1982.
The Carters also volunteered regularly with Habitat for Humanity until the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
Carter is also the author of 30 books.
Carter was born on October 1, 1924. He is currently 99 years old.
In February 2023, Carter entered hospice care after his health started to decline.
In November 2023, it was announced that his wife, Rosalynn, also joined her husband in hospice care.
Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, diagnosed with dementia, is currently 96 years old.

Bill Clinton
Bill Clinton was the 42nd US President.
He was a Democrat, and served two terms between 1993 – 2001.
He was succeeded by George W. Bush.
Since leaving office, the once-impeached president launched the Clinton Foundation in 2001.
He also helped campaign for his wife, Hillary Clinton, in the 2008 and 2016 presidential elections. She won the Democratic nomination but lost to Trump in the election.
Clinton, born on August 19, 1946, is currently 77 years old.
George W. Bush
Born on July 6, 1946, George W. Bush is 77 years old.
A Republican, he served two terms between 2001 – 2009.

He was the nation’s 43rd president.
He was succeeded by Barack Obama.
Since leaving office, he’s taken up painting, often paying tribute to the country’s military veterans in his work.
He also campaigned for his brother Jeb Bush during the 2016 Republican presidential primaries.
His father, 41st President George H. W. Bush, used to be the longest-living US president until his death in 2018 at the age of 94.
Barack Obama
Barack Obama was the 44th president of the US.
He served two terms between 2009-2017.
A Democrat, he made history as the country’s first Black president.
He was succeeded in office by Donald Trump.
Since leaving office, Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, signed a deal with Netflix to produce documentaries and docuseries through their Higher Ground Productions banner.
He also endorsed his former Vice President, Joe Biden, in the 2020 election. Biden won the election against Trump.
Obama, born on August 4, 1961, is currently 62 years old.
Donald Trump
Donald Trump was the 45th President of the US.
He served one term between 2017 – 2021.
He was succeeded by Joe Biden.
Since leaving office, he announced his 2024 campaign for re-election in November 2022.
He is also facing some legal battles over classified documents and his alleged involvement in the January 6, 2021, US Capitol riots, often referred to as the January 6 Insurrection.
Trump, born on June 14, 1946, is currently 77 years old.
How old do you need to be to run for office?
Candidates for president of the United States must meet some basic requirements, including an age minimum.
Presidents must be at least 35 years old.
The US Constitution also states that the president must be a natural-born citizen of the US.
They also need to have been a resident of the US for at least 14 years.
According to USA.gov, as long as a candidate meets these three requirements, they can officially “declare their candidacy for president.”
