Workers rushed to clean up an oil spill on the track at the Las Vegas Grand Prix just over an hour before lights out.

At some point during the drivers parade, a leak from one of the antique cars carrying the racers began to spill oil.

Reports indicate that oil appeared to have been leaking from a 1950s-era convertible carrying McLaren driver Oscar Piastri.

Piastri rode along with teammate Lando Norris as well. Additionally, Lewis Hamilton was seen doubling up with Sergio Perez – giving credence to reports that the Mercedes’ driver’s classic car was also leaking oil.

Later images showed some form of a liquid underneath Hamilton’s car – a retro Mercedes-Benz coupe.

The left side of the track appeared to be the most effected by all this – which could pose an issue for Red Bull driver Max Verstappen.

Reports indicated that Verstappen was furious after realizing that his grid spot in P2 would be the most effected by this.

‘That’s definitely unfortunate for those on the inside,’ F1 commentator Danica Patrick said on Sky Sports’ pre-race coverage.

‘This is going to be a loss of grip. This is very unfortunate. I don’t know what they’re going to be able to do about it.

‘Are they going to be able to run cars over it before? Probably not. It’s a busy grid. This is an issue.’

This is the latest in a series of serious safety issues on this track after a manhole cover was sucked up from the ground by the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz on Thursday’s FP1 that caused a significant delay in that night’s proceedings.
