Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Aubreyona Jani Cross, 25, was arrested yesterday after allegedly pushing her way into a home and threatening the resident with a hunting knife. She is on pre-trial release following a July 2023 arrest for trespass after warning at GRACE Marketplace.

At about 10:47 p.m. last night, Cross reportedly banged on the door of a home; when the resident asked her to leave, she allegedly pushed him into the home and entered with him. She allegedly threw a chair, broke his TV, broke a lightbulb, and threw items around the home, then took a large hunting knife from her handbag and brandished it toward the victim, saying, “I oughta kill you.” The victim reported that Cross then went to the driveway and vandalized his vehicle with the hunting knife before leaving on foot. The responding Gainesville Police Department officer reported that the vehicle had two slashed tires.

Post Miranda, Cross reportedly did not want to answer questions.

Cross has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary with assault, and property damage over $1,000. She has one felony conviction for cocaine possession and is on pre-trial release for trespass after warning at GRACE Marketplace. She was also arrested on a warrant for failure to appear at a hearing in the trespassing case. Judge George Wright set bail at $200,000 for the new charges and $99 for failure to appear.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
