Pippa Middleton commands attention in sheer lace dress

Pippa Middleton proved she wasn’t afraid to be daring with her fashion choices this evening as she stepped out an event in London.

The Princess of Wales’ sister, 40, stunned in a sophisticated high-neck bottle green cocktail dress for the British Heart Foundation’s Heart Hero Awards ceremony at Glaziers Hall.

Looking typically stylish, her daring dress was made of sheer lace, but the mother-of-three made sure to conceal what was underneath with a nude slip dress.

Pippa dressed appropriately for the festive season and added a touch of red to her green ensemble.

She donned a classic red clutch bag and matched it with an elegant pair of pointed-heeled pumps in a similarly bold shade.

Pippa opted for a simple yet effective makeup look for the evening, complete with nude lipstick and black eyeliner. She styled her glossy brunette tresses into delicate curls for the event.

Tonight’s occasion aims to recognise individuals who devote ‘much of their time and energy to help beat heart and circulatory disease.’

Pippa’s outing comes after The Daily Mail’s Richard Eden revealed in October that she had cut through the thicket of regulations which confront anyone attempting a home improvement.

Her prize? Approval for her latest dream – the creation of both a brand new swimming pool and an Astroturf tennis court at the Berkshire estate which she and her husband, hedge fund chief executive James Matthews, 48, snapped up last year for £15million.

It’s quite a triumph – and not just because, at 82ft x 19ft, theirs is twice the size of a typical private pool and is matched, locally, only by those in Newbury and Hungerford leisure centres.

What made Pippa’s plans especially contentious was her desire to site the pool inside what, until now, has been a magnificent kitchen garden, rather than opting to extend the estate’s existing pool.

The council’s conservation officer expressed concern about the cessation of ‘horticultural use’ in favour of ‘recreational/leisure use’, and the potential loss of ‘historic fabric’ in one of the kitchen garden walls during the building process.

The council’s senior archaeologist, Sarah Orr, was scarcely more encouraging, pointing out that the estate’s 17th century manor house was close to ‘many Middle Stone Age sites’, several of them little more than a quarter of a mile away.

A new pool could ‘have an impact on surviving archaeological deposits,’ warned Orr, before recommending ‘the digging of trenches or test pits’ where work was proposed.

But Pippa kept going, with the plans being amended no fewer than seven times until victory was achieved.

Just one final detail requires her attention: no external lighting is to be installed over the tennis court or pool, insists the council, until ‘a lighting strategy has been submitted and approved’.

Meanwhile, Pippa has a new nephew after her brother James and his wife Alizee Thevenet welcomed a son this autumn.

In October, the brother of the Princess of Wales, 36, revealed his little boy Inigo was born a few weeks before in an adorable Instagram post after he and his wife were spotted out and about with a pram for the first time.

Sharing a photo of Inigo’s tiny hand ‘holding’ a badge containing an emblem of his late beloved dog Ella, and another photo of the tiny baby in his cot while James’s other dogs watched over him, the new father praised the NHS for looking after both Alizee and the newborn at Basingstoke Hospital, where he was born.

He also revealed he has already taught little Inigo about Ella, who passed away in January of this year leaving James heartbroken.

Although he did not reveal Inigo’s exact birthday, he said the little one has been in his life for ‘just a few weeks’.

In a heartfelt announcement on Instagram, James wrote: ‘He has been in our lives for just a few weeks but they have been the most special of my life getting to know our beautiful baby boy.

‘No matter how prepared I thought I was…I was not prepared for the overwhelming emotion of meeting Inigo for the first time and the love for my darling Alizée as we became three.

‘We have settled into our new life as parents and I’ve told him all about Ella and that if it wasn’t for her he wouldn’t be here today and that we miss her greatly.

‘The dogs have been fantastic at welcoming their little brother into the pack (although Inka needs to know the teddybears are not all for her…)

‘We would like to thank the wonderful team at Basingstoke hospital, from the very first scan to walking out the front door for the first time as three, we couldn’t have felt more supported and looked after throughout so thank you NHS.’
