Belinda King is an autistic glass artist based in Northamptonshire. She appears in the first series of BBC1’s Make it at Market.

Her love for working with glass began as she pursued her degree. She studied Design Crafts at De Montfort University. From the first time Belinda worked with the molten material, she fell in love with the process. Over the 3 years of her degree, she has worked with kiln-formed and blown glass and these are the areas of glass that she continues to work with today.

In her third year of studies, she discovered through extensive research how one can weave glass, and that instantly caught my attention.

Glassmaker Belinda King is one of 30 designer-makers appearing on Make It At Market, hosted by The Repair Shop’s Dominic Chinea. The artists were all paired up with a master maker in their field, and Belinda had the privilege of being mentored by the incredible Allister Malcolm.

She revealed that she was featured in the show with an Instagram post that she wrote: “HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT!”

“I am so so happy to finally share that I am going to be on TV!!”

“I am so lucky to be one of 4 glass blowers who were selected to appear on ‘Make It At Market’, a new TV show coming soon on the BBC. We have been paired with such an incredible glass-blowing master maker as our mentor, and it still blows my mind to think of all that’s happened! I can’t say what I’ve done, so you’ll have to watch the show to find out 👀”

The series follows many creatives who want to make their hobby a full-time career, and the people who I share this series with are so incredibly talented and the loveliest bunch of people!
