The TikToker (@ek_tayy) revealed that she placed her receipt where it could not easily be reached.

“Purposely putting the receipt in the bottom of my purse cause they can’t legally can’t stop me to see it unless I’m being detained,” she wrote on the video.

Tay added that she found the staff and policy irritating.

“Them walmart door ppl annoying,” she wrote in the caption.

“I said what I said.”

Tay expressed her carefree attitude to this action as she recorded the video over the viral “Cause it’s iconic, and I love to do iconic s**t” sound.

The shopper explained why she did not dwell on the possible repercussions of not showing her proof of purchase.

“I paid for it. So I’m not worried about it,” she said in the comment section.

A viewer commended Tay for her tactic and mentality.

“I like the way you think,” the person said.

“Every time I walk out I’m hoping they say something to me. Lol”

A lawyer revealed that retailers like Walmart do not have the legal right to force customers to show their receipts, The U.S. Sun has previously reported.

Legal expert Alex Colangelo added that customers were therefore able to walk away when asked by employees.

Colangelo added that shoppers must show their receipts at stores like Costco due to their memberships rules.

He explained that an agreement to allow employees to check receipts is often in the terms and conditions signed by customers before they can shop in those stores.

Other Walmart customers have also taken to social media to share their negative thoughts on receipt checks, The U.S. Sun has previously reported.

One shopper took to TikTok to complain that she was stopped twice for a receipt check as she left the store.
