GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Charmie Lynn Owens, 34, was arrested late last night and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated child abuse, and domestic battery after allegedly stabbing a child with a pocket knife during a domestic argument.
At about 11:15 p.m. last night, Owens was reportedly arguing with another adult in an apartment when the fight became physical and the victim’s children tried to intercede. Owens allegedly pulled out a knife, and a witness said it looked like Owens was trying to stab the adult but instead stabbed an 8-year-old child; the child’s back reportedly had a small laceration.
The responding Gainesville Police Department officer reported that the adult had injuries to her face. A pocket knife with a locking blade was reportedly found at the scene.
