The family of murdered Melbourne doctor Ash Gordon has described those allegedly responsible for his death as “scum of the earth”.

Gordon, 33, was stabbed and hit by a car after he took on a group who robbed his unit, being left to die with horrific injuries in the middle of a Doncaster street.

He has now left behind a grieving family, devastated by his premature death.

Gordon’s sister Natalie remembered her brother as a cheeky and fun-loving man.

“He was a very, very special guy,” she said.

“Mum is completely broken and I’ve never seen my dad like this.

“You never want to have to bury your own children.”

Gordon was stabbed to death early on Saturday morning after chasing a group of intruders from his Doncaster home.

His body was discovered less than a kilometre away.

While he pursued the thieves, his partner was on the phone to police.

“Honestly, scum – scum of the earth,” Natalie said of his killers.

“How any decent person could do that to another human being is beyond me.”

The GP grew up in Gippsland and had a charisma about him that everyone around him loved, his sister said.

He moved to Melbourne around 10 years ago to pursue his passion of medicine and helping people.

But just as he started hitting career highs, Gordon’s life was cut short.

There are growing floral tributes at the scene of his death.

His colleagues at the Box Hill Superclinic have also opened up on the loss

“Dr Gordon was well-loved and respected by everyone and our prayers and thoughts are with his family and loved ones,” the clinic said in a statement.

It’s believed at least four people had broken into the home.

CCTV obtained by 9News showed a group of teenagers from a nearby party running up and down the street earlier that night.

No one has been arrested.

The Homicide Squad is working around the clock to track down those responsible.
