Alison Hammond has been announced as the new presenter of the award-winning ITV series, For The Love of Dogs.

The This Morning host, 48, will be taking over the late Paul O’Grady’s show following his death last year. The much-loved comedian and presenter died at the age of 67 after suffering cardiac arrhythmia on 28 March 2023.

Following Paul’s sudden death, Alison will be heading to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home to help the animals in their care look for a new place to live.

The six-part series will tell the stories of some of the latest arrivals at the animal shelter, with the new presenter mucking in to help.

Speaking about her new role, the on-screen star commented: “I am very aware that I can never replace the iconic Paul in this wonderful series, but if I can continue to shine a light on the brilliant work done at Battersea and help to tell the stories of these beautiful dogs, then it will be an absolute privilege to give it my all.

“I can’t wait to share the joy of their searches for new loving forever homes and hopefully make lots of furry friends of my own along the way!”

Commissioning Editor for ITV, Satmohan Panesar, said: “We are thrilled to be able to confirm that the series will return in the spring and that the dogs have a brand-new champion in Alison Hammond.

Known for her bubbly personality, the Birmingham-born presenter started out working as a holiday rep and entertainer in Tunisia, and had previously been a child actress.

Alison is now best known for hosting This Morning on a Friday along with Dermot O’Leary.
