Novak, 35, officially withdrew from the competition on Friday, according to bowler news website PlayersBio.com.

Originally from Chillicothe, Ohio, he was arrested during the game due to charges issued in Ohio’s Ross County.

More information about the cause of his arrest has yet to be officially released.

Before his arrest, Novak posted on Facebook about participating in the national championship.

“What a grind those 24 games were! Ended up bowling -17 on the final block of qualifying to get to +102 overall and sitting in 20th place,” he wrote yesterday morning.

“Thanks to everyone back home who is supporting me and some others who came to watch! I appreciate you all! Here’s to another 8 games…”

Novak immersed himself into the bowling industry in 2009 but didn’t make his professional debut with the Professional Bowlers Association until 2012.

Since then, Novak has collected an array of accolades including being named as the Regular All-Events champion for the United States Bowling Congress Open Championships.

Over the years, Novak has taken home $93,407.50 in wins throughout the 76 matches he’s competed in.

Bowling fans expressed their surprise at the drama during the big games.

“Wait I need details. A bowler arrested mid-game at the US Open?!? That in itself should be illegal! #RespectTheGame,” one user wrote on X.

“Need more on the Brandon Novak arrest,” another posted.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to the Ross County Police Department and PBA for further details.
