At least 52 people have been hospitalized after a ‘hazmat incident’ at a drug packaging facility in Pennsylvania.
The patients reported suffering from nausea, vomiting and headaches after a ‘chemical smell’ moved through part of the facility.
The incident happened at Sharp Corporation at 7451 Keebler Way in Upper Macungie Township. The company’s website says the facility is used for the packaging a distribution of drugs.
Lt. Pete Nickischer, of the Upper Macungie Township Police Department, said hazmat crews were still working to ascertain the cause of the incident on Friday afternoon.

A hospital in Allentown received 22 of the people for checks and said they were stable and would be discharged.
Fire crews searched for a gas leak but none was found.
