The storm swept through several states and caused major destruction in some areas.

Deaths or injuries were reported in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and Arkansas.

Illinois and Missouri were also thought to have been hit with tornadoes.

Officials in Louisville, Kentucky confirmed that a tornado hit the Jefferson and Trimble Counties in southern Indiana.

An onlooker in the town of Madison, within Jefferson County, captured a video of the tornado moving across the river on Thursday.

Daniel Felix, who was working at a hotel on the side of the Ohio River, caught the strong winds on camera, according to Storyful.

“That is insane,” he said.

“I have never seen that on the water… see it there it is look at it spin.”

This video also showed chunks of debris flying through the air.

Police in Logan County, Ohio reported that at least three people had died in the area and they were working on identifying the victims.

A trailer park in the area had been badly hit by the extreme weather, according to cops.

Sheriff Randy Dodds told NBC News that they had brought in cadaver dogs to help in the search for survivors.

“I do anticipate finding additional deceased persons, unfortunately, today,” Dodds said.

“It’s one hell of a mess up there. It looks like a war zone,” he added.

A county spokesperson, Sheri Timmers, said the RV park was also damaged on Thursday night and there would likely be “lots of injuries.”

Around 40 people were reported injured in the small town of Winchester, Indiana.

The town’s mayor Bob McCoy shared what he heard and experienced on Thursday night, according to AP.

“I’m shaken, it’s overwhelming,” he said.

“I heard what sounded like a train, and then I started hearing sirens.

“I’ve never heard that sound before; I don’t want to hear it again,” he added.
