AFTER teaching for seven years, an educator was fired when her school discovered her second job.

While not in the classroom, Domonique Brown is known as Drippin’ Honey; the rap alias which she performs under.

Who is Domonique ‘Drippin’ Honey’ Brown?

Previously, Domonique Brown was a history teacher at Taylor Preparatory High School in Taylor, Michigan.

For six months, Brown taught at the abovementioned high school; she was hired in August 2023.

Outside of her main profession as a history teacher, Brown is also a rap musician who performs under the alias Drippin’ Honey.

Her highest-viewed single is Drippin’ 101, which is available on YouTube.

What happened to Domonique Brown?

In February 2024, Brown was terminated from her position.

According to the educator, the school fired her after parents complained to the district about her hip-hop music career.

As Brown remembered the build-up to her termination, she recalled Taylor High first took note of parents’ complaints in October 2023.

She explained to KTVI: “The first meeting was with my dean and my principal and they were just telling me, ‘Hey, a parent said that they’ve seen your social media and that you’re a bad influence because you’re a rapper.’

“I was like ‘Hey well can we tell that parent to come in and see professionalism, see me in a classroom, see me after school, see me at all the games, see me dropping kids off every day, buying food?’

“Can they come to see me in my element before they try to say I’m unprofessional in it?

“Music is part of the culture. So it’s not like it’s unheard of, it’s the culture.”

Brown added: “If I was a horrible teacher, y’all would have dropped me the day it was a problem.

“My outside life should not be grounds for termination when it does not interfere with my ability to fulfill my responsibilities as a teacher.

“My dedication, professionalism, and passion for education have always been unwavering, regardless of any personal pursuits I may have.”

How did Taylor Preparatory High School respond to Brown’s claims?

In response to Brown’s accusations, Taylor High didn’t elaborate on her dismissal.

In a statement, the school said: “Student well-being remains at the forefront of everything we do, and we will continue fostering a distraction-free teaching and learning environment focused on student success.”
