Kylian Mbappe has revealed he will make an announcement about his future before Euro 2024 gets underway.

Mbappe, 25, told PSG back in February that he will leave the club when his contract expires this summer.

The forward has long-been linked with a move to Real Madrid and almost joined Los Blancos in the summer of 2022, before he made a late u-turn and penned a new deal with the Ligue 1 side.

There has been no official announcement surrounding his future yet though, but Mbappe explained that one will be forthcoming ahead of this summer’s tournament in Germany, where he will captain France.

‘People will know my future before the Euros. I’m very calm about it,’ he told Telefoot.

‘My future is no longer a huge topic at the club, no one talks to me about it anymore.

‘I’ll be at the Euros with calm head, ready to do great things.’

Mbappe’s announcement to PSG last month gave Real the green light to sign him after they wanted a public show from Mbappe that he intended to leave the French club this time before making their move.

It was also interpreted as a clear signal Mbappe is prepared to drop his financial demands. Fourteen-time European Cup winners Madrid have always maintained they would not compete financially with PSG.

The Spanish club’s unwillingness to smash their wage structure to match the £21.4million annual salary the Frenchman earns in Paris after tax is no longer a problem, as there would be no transfer fee to pay.

Mail Sport reported last month that Madrid are willing to make Mbappe the club’s top earner, surpassing the £10.3m per season they pay Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior.

As mentioned, they will also pay a signing-on fee of around £85.5m and open talks over what percentage of his image rights he retains.

The player’s mother Fayza Lamari wants Madrid to abandon their usual 50-50 split between club and player and Madrid president Florentino Perez is likely to cede to those demands.

Mbappe is expected to take the No 10 shirt that Luka Modric will vacate in the summer. His arrival would give Madrid a forward line of Mbappe, Vinicius and Rodrygo, supported by Bellingham.

Despite the constant speculation surrounding his future, Mbappe has showed no signs of being distracted, with the forward having netted 38 times in 37 games this season.

However, evidence of Mbappe’s pending departure has been shown by the Frenchman only completing 90 minutes once in PSG’s last six league matches, with boss Luis Enrique utilising other options who will be at the club next season.

In fact, the Spaniard recently said: ‘(We will) have to get used to playing without Mbappe, sooner or later.’

Mbape’s expected departure in the summer will bring an end to a transfer saga that has rolled on over recent years.

One of the latest elements of this came when Mbappe was exiled from PSG’s squad last summer after he informed the club he would not be signing a new contract.

He was subsequently left out of the club’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea and forced to train with a group that became known as the ‘undesirables’ – players who PSG were trying to force out.

Mbappe was then reintegrated after missing the first game of the season against Lorient, which came after he agreed to forego bonuses that he was owed, according to reports in France.

Meanwhile, Mbappe – who played the full 90 minutes of France’s 2-0 friendly defeat by Germany on Saturday – also revealed he is keen to represent Les Bleus at this summer’s Olympics in Paris.

Each team are allowed three over-age players, but clubs are under no obligation to release their players for the tournament, given it falls outside of a delegated international window.

And, speaking ahead of the friendly with Germany, Mbappe said: ‘I always wanted to play at the Olympics and my desire has not changed… but if I’m not allowed to, then I will do as I’m told.’

France face Chile in a friendly on Tuesday, before Mbappe reports back to PSG, with the Parisians 12 points clear of Brest at the top of Ligue 1, while they face a crunch Champions League quarter-final tie against Barcelona next month.
