Conjoined twins Abby and Brittany Hensel gave viewers a taste of their lives on Abby & Brittany in 2012. Now, Abby Hensel is married!
Public records reveal that Abby got hitched to Joshua (Josh) Bowling in 2021, TODAY.com reports. Hailing from Johnson City, Tennessee, Bowling, a nurse and army veteran, has shared pictures of he and the Hensel sisters on his Facebook account. Meanwhile the sisters’ Facebook page seems to feature a profile picture from their wedding day, per People.
Abby and Brittany are dicephalus conjoined twins, who have their own brains, hearts, lungs, and stomachs, but share everything below the waist, per HuffPost. They also have the same bloodstream, and each control one side of the body — Abby the right, and Brittany the left — per TODAY.com.
The TLC reality show aired for one season, following the sisters, then 22 years old, as they navigate college graduation, traveling around Europe, and finding their first job, per IMDb. However, the world met Abby and Brittany long before they starred in their own series.
The Hensel sisters were featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1996, and were also spotlighted in Joined for Life, a documentary that was released in 2003.
Abby and Brittany both graduated from Bethel University in Arden Hills, Minnesota, and stayed in the state to teach, per BBC News. Abby noted to the outlet in 2013, “Obviously right away we understand that we are going to get one salary because we’re doing the job of one person.”
“As maybe experience comes in we’d like to negotiate a little bit, considering we have two degrees and because we are able to give two different perspectives or teach in two different ways,” Abby continued.
Brittany added, “One can be teaching and one can be monitoring and answering questions. So in that sense we can do more than one person.”
The sisters are now 34 years old, and both are still teaching, per TODAY.com.
