Phil Vickery, Fern Britton’s ex-husband, has shared a mysterious message about “ruining something good”. The 62 year old chef posted this on his Instagram Story shortly after Fern’s recent appearance on Celebrity Big Brother.

The post read: “A lot of people mess up something good by looking for something better, to end up with something worse.”

Phil, who often appears on This Morning, was once married to Fern, the former host of the ITV show. They tied the knot in 2000 but decided to part ways in 2020.

Fern had said they enjoyed many “happy years” together.

Two years after their split, it was reported that Phil was spotted kissing Lorraine Stanton, who was known as Fern’s “best friend”. It was said that Fern was “shocked” and found the situation “awkward,” but she later seemed to dismiss these rumours.

Fern has opened up about her marriage to Phil since their separation. She told Woman and Home magazine: “We simply needed to follow our own paths. Over time we realised we weren’t necessarily having the kind of life we once did. It seemed right to say ‘thank you’ and move on.”

She also mentioned that she maintains a “good friendship” with her ex-husband Phil.

Previously, she revealed to Good Housekeeping magazine: “My children are grown-up and I’m no longer married, and it’s as if this whole other world has opened up. I never thought this would happen; I didn’t expect to be 65 and single and really relaxed.”

Fern and Phil share a daughter together named Winnie Vickery, 22. Fern also has three kids from her previous marriage to Clive Jones, 75; they have twin sons Harry and Jack Jones, 29, along with Grace Jones, who is 26 years old.

This update from Phil comes just after his ex-wife Fern made it to the final of Celebrity Big Brother, where she finished fifth on the popular ITV show. While there, she conversed about love with Louis Walsh, 71, following a discussion about their fresh outlooks on life.

She told Louis: “I’m ready to slow down. I mean, like you, I’ve been working solidly since I was 20.”

Louis retorted: “You realise what life is and realise ‘why haven’t I done this before? ‘. Why didn’t I go there? Why didn’t I do that? “.

Fern seemed to agree with Louis who then added: “And you’re young, you’re young-ish. You have fun. If you pick the right person, you’ll have great fun. You might fall in love. You don’t know who you’ll meet.”
