Is Roman Kemp Quitting Capital Breakfast Show? Roman Kemp tears up as he breaks his silence on quitting radio show after 10 years as Radio 1’s Jordan North is set to replace him.

Is Roman Kemp Quitting Capital Breakfast Show?

On Monday morning, Roman Kemp, 31, forced back tears as he announced he is quitting the Capital Breakfast show.

Roman was filled with emotion as he talked about how much Capital has meant to him and admitted that it wasn’t a move he had ever planned to make.

“I have a bit of an announcement to make, and it’s really weird to say out loud,” he clarified. Very strange. To tell the truth, I have no idea how I even began this.

I’m just going to say it straight out. It seems strange to say, but this will be my final six weeks on Capital.

‘The last eight and a half years of my life have been so wonderful being part of this machine right, it’s been the funniest, the saddest, the most plain wild period being part of Capital and the Global family,’ he said, shaking off his emotions.

“You never imagine that the day will come when you have to say goodbye when you take on a task of this magnitude.” You never anticipate that moment.

What I can assure you of is that, although it won’t be long, I won’t be bidding farewell just yet. I won’t be leaving the show today.

It will arrive, and that farewell will happen in five or six weeks.

It’s a big decision that hasn’t come to me easily at all, and it didn’t happen quickly either.

Roman revealed the sorrow when he spoke of his “best times” and “absolute lowest.” greatest friend and Global radio producer Joe Lyons took his own life in August 2020.

“Capital is my family; you have been there for me at both my happiest and darkest moments as amazing listeners.” Global and Capital have aided in my transformation.

“I joined Capital at the age of 22, and it has shaped me into the man I am today; it is everything I know.”

But I know that now is the right time to leave and now is the right time to move on.’

Jordan North is tipped to replace Roman after it was confirmed he was leaving his own spot on Radio One following a decade on air.

Roman wrote on his Instagram handle: So there you have it sports fans. I’m handing over the baton at the end of March…
Jordan North will be your new host of Capital Breakfast. Couldn’t have gone to a better person, top lad and will be a great addition to your morning routine. You’ll smash it bud @jordannorth1 ❤️👍🏻

Jordan North is rumored to be replacing Roman, who departed his own seat on Radio One after ten years of broadcasting.

The former I’m A Celeb star was reported to have left Radio One’s renowned Going Home show on Friday. Jamie Laing, 35, is expected to take over the show, which airs Monday through Thursday from 3.30 to 6 p.m., alongside Vick Hope.

Insiders told The Sun shortly after the flurry of news broke that Jordan had inked a lucrative contract with the competing broadcaster.

“Jordan is moving to Capital FM to replace Roman, and he could not be more excited,” the insider stated.

It is really significant for him, and although though he finds it difficult to leave the BBC, he is eager to begin working at Capital.

“The BBC has found it difficult to accept Jordan’s decision, but there was nothing they could do to convince him otherwise.”

Capital has not yet formally announced the identity of the new host.

Roman has proven to be an excellent presenter, and having him on the team has been a great experience, according to Global Chief Broadcasting and Content Officer James Rea.

I want to express my gratitude to him for the outstanding work he has done for Capital over the past ten years. We hope to shortly make an announcement about the new Capital Breakfast.

Roman joined Capital in 2014 before hosting the prestigious The Capital Evening Show in 2016.

In 2017 he moved to Capital Breakfast before taking the show nationwide in 2019.

He continued: ‘You listening, and the people in this room, every single person in this room, my producing team, Sian and Chris, Sonny who has done it in the past and Vick Hope who had done it in the past. It’s everyone.

Roman also took to his social media to issue his own statement as he added: 'When I started this show I was told to remember it's like a table at the pub with your friends and one chair is empty so the listener can come and join the laughs...'

‘When I started this show I was instructed to remember it’s like a table at the bar with your pals and one chair is empty so the listener may come and enjoy the chuckles,’ Roman continued on social media.

It’s going to be really difficult over the following several weeks as I kind of near the end of my time on Capital. I adore this area beyond measure. I adore Capital—the station and everything around it are like family to me.

Additionally, I adore the bond that has been formed between the listeners and myself. It has evolved.

Although I understand that at first I was merely Martin Kemp’s kid, I hope that at this point you can consider me a friend.

“I’ve loved every single moment of my time at Capital,” Roman continued. The past ten years have been incredible, and emceeing the renowned Capital Breakfast is the greatest job you’ve ever had.

However, I’m looking forward to some lie-ins after nearly seven years of early alarms, and it’s time to pass the torch!

Being the one to wake up millions of people every day has been an honor and a privilege.

It’s the best job in radio and I’ll miss our listeners and the team at Global lots.

‘Whoever the next host of Capital Breakfast is, they’re in for the most incredible ride,’ Roman wrote.

“Roman, it’s been a pleasure,” stated Ashley Tabor-King CBE, Founder & Executive President of Global. As the host and custodian of one of the most popular radio shows in the UK, the Capital Breakfast Show, you have done an amazing job.

“I’ve enjoyed seeing you develop both personally and as a broadcaster, and I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.”

‘When I started this show I was instructed to remember it’s like a table at the bar with your pals and one chair is empty so the listener may come and enjoy the chuckles,’ Roman continued on social media.

‘Well, now it’s time for me to give my chair at the table to someone else.’

Fans and friends sent their love to the star as he received a plethora of well wishes.
