A man was crushed by a 1200-pound tree stump in suburban Portland, officials have revealed.

A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday night when an unnamed individual tried to remove a stump from his backyard, resulting in his death. His body has since been found.

The man was stuck under the stump overnight until he was found. Portland Fire & Rescue managed to lift the heavy stump off the man using a high angle pulley system, but sadly, he could not be saved.

Once the body was removed, the scene was turned over to police, who are now probing the incident.

Authorities stated that a malfunction in the homeowner’s equipment caused the accident, and an investigation is currently in progress. The victim, who is male, has not yet been identified.
