Janey Thompson was a university student studying at Wake Forest University in North Carolina.
Originally from Charlotte, Janey was a sophomore studying biophysics at the time of her sudden death.
According to the school’s website, Janey was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority, and Sigma Pi Sigma.
She was also a member of the National Society of Physics Students.
The outlet noted Janey to be a Demon Deacon sports fan and enjoyed playing club basketball.
Before enrolling in college, Janey played varsity basketball and softball at Myers Park High School where she graduated in 2022.
What was Janey Thompson’s cause of death?
Janey Thompson, 20, passed away on April 9, 2024, after suffering complications from a blood clot.
The news broke after the WBT radio station, where her dad works, released a statement.
“The WBT and Radio One family are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Bo Thompson’s daughter, Janey,” the statement read.
“There are no words to provide adequate comfort under these circumstances, but we are committed to supporting Bo and his family in any way possible during this difficult time.
“We know that the WBT community of listeners joins us in prayers for the Thompson family.”
Speaking on Janey’s impact, the radio station remembered her as having an “infectious smile and big heart.
“Janey was a light in this world and still is.”
They went on to say Janey’s funeral arrangements have yet to be made.
Who is Janey Thompson’s father, Bo Thompson?
Janey Thompson was the date of local WBT radio host Bo Thompson.
Bo is widely known for hosting the WBT Morning Show, a position he’s held since March 2012.
Prior to his Morning Show gig, Bo worked as a producer for WCCB-TV and spent seven years working as a creative director for News Talk 1110 WBT.
In addition to Janey, Bo also has a son named Hank.
