NEWBERRY, Fla. – Diana Marie Rogers, 67, has been charged with DUI with injury to another person after officers determined that she was impaired following an accident that sent a motorcyclist to the hospital under a trauma alert.
At about 9:25 p.m. on Monday night, a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper responded to a crash at W. Newberry Road and NW 124th Blvd. The trooper reported that a Subaru Crosstrek and a motorcycle had been involved in the crash; one of the Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies at the scene indicated that Rogers, the driver of the Subaru, appeared to be impaired.
The trooper noted that Rogers had difficulty standing up and that she could smell alcohol on her breath. Another trooper administered field sobriety exercises and reported that Rogers did poorly. A breath test at the jail reportedly produced samples of .146 and .148 g/210L, well above the legal limit of .08 g/210L.
Rogers has no criminal history. Judge Kristine Van Vorst ordered that a Transdermal Alcohol Device be fitted and that Rogers observe a curfew between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. and then released her on her own recognizance.
