GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gainesville Police Department is investigating a drive-by shooting at Wilhelmina Johnson Cultural Center during the early morning hours of August 20.

At 2:50 a.m., officers responded to the corner of W. University Avenue and 13th Street, where they found a 33-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound in his arm. The victim said he was at Wilhelmina Johnson Cultural Center (321 NW 10th Street) when a passing vehicle fired several shots at him. The victim went to a relative’s home to get a ride to the hospital, but they stopped and called 911 at University and 13th Street.

The victim is reportedly in stable condition.

According to a spokesman, GPD does not currently have a description of the vehicle or any suspects.
