GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Javar Navi Hall, 23, was arrested last night and charged with abuse of a disabled adult after allegedly hitting and slamming a man into the ground.
Officers working the UF football game reportedly saw the incident on a traffic camera in the 1800 block of NW 8th Avenue and notified patrol officers. The responding Gainesville Police Department officer reported that the victim was a disabled adult, and Hall was his caretaker at a group home.
Post Miranda, Hall reportedly said the victim had become agitated and had to be physically restrained because he kept running into traffic; Hall denied striking him or slamming him into the sidewalk.
The officer reported that the traffic camera video showed Hall picking the victim up by the arms and slamming his body into the sidewalk; the video also reportedly showed Hall punching the victim in the torso, arms, and face.
The officer reported that the victim’s injuries were consistent with the video.
Hall has no local criminal convictions. Judge Sean Brewer set bail at $10,000.
