GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Kaiden Samarrion Davis-Shanks, 19, and Brandy Nicole McGuire, 38, were arrested yesterday after Davis-Shanks allegedly engaged in sexual activity with a minor and McGuire allegedly went with friends and family members to confront him with a gun and “brass knuckles.”
Davis-Shanks has been accused of engaging in sexual activity with a juvenile between the ages of 12 and 16; the activity was reportedly discovered when a family member of the victim found a condom outside her bedroom window.
An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy reported that Davis-Shanks gave him consent to view text messages on his phone, and the deputy reported that there was a message from the victim saying they would need to stop having sex because the condom was found.
Post Miranda, Davis-Shanks reportedly admitted having intercourse with the victim three or four times over the past month.
McGuire was reportedly part of a group of people who went to Davis-Shanks’ residence to confront him; one member of the group reportedly sent several messages to Davis-Shanks, asking to talk. When they arrived, they knocked on the door and allegedly pushed their way inside when the door opened. McGuire allegedly “had on brass knuckles and armed herself with a gun.”
A resident reportedly said that McGuire pressed her gun to his neck while asking for Davis-Shanks. Davis-Shanks said that McGuire punched him in the face with brass knuckles and pointed a gun at his head.
The deputy reported that a witness who lives across the street heard yelling coming from the balcony and saw several people on the balcony, with McGuire pointing a handgun at people. The witness reportedly took a video that showed McGuire pointing a handgun at three people; the video showed another person grabbing Davis-Shanks and pulling him into the residence, and then everyone left after an altercation inside the residence.
Post Miranda, McGuire reportedly said she was upset that Davis-Shanks was engaging in sexual activity with the minor and that she took her gun to “pistol whip” him but took the clip out of the gun before she left. She reportedly said she did not have brass knuckles but put on rings “specifically to hit Kaiden with.” She said that after the door opened, she took that as an invitation to enter and then found Davis-Shanks on the balcony; she said that when he denied that anything had happened, that caused her to “snap.” She reportedly said she pulled out her gun and pointed it at Davis-Shanks, then “lost it” and punched him.
Davis-Shanks has been charged with two counts of lewd/lascivious battery on a victim between the ages of 12 and 16.
McGuire has been charged with burglary with assault or battery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Davis-Shanks has no local adult criminal convictions. Judge Sheree Lancaster ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s Office to hold him without bail until trial.
