GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Naomi Marie Young, 32, was arrested last night and charged with aggravated battery after allegedly stabbing a man at GRACE Marketplace.
At about 8:30 p.m., a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to a report of a stabbing at GRACE (3055 NE 28th Dr). The victim reportedly said that he and Young had argued, and during the argument, Young reached her hand out toward him and cut his shoulder with a knife.
Post Miranda, Young reportedly said she walked away from the victim while they were arguing, but then she became aggravated with the victim, turned around, and walked toward the victim while holding a knife. She said she accidentally cut the victim when she was near him. She said the victim threatened her life before he was cut.
A witness reportedly said that Young and the victim were arguing when Young walked away and then turned around, walked toward the victim, pulled out a knife, and cut the victim.
Officers reportedly found a knife in Young’s backpack that matched the description provided by the victim.
The victim reportedly had a superficial cut to his shoulder.
Young has two felony convictions (two violent). Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $30,000 and ordered a mental health evaluation.
