Kate Merson is the wife of Paul Merson, a former footballer and broadcaster. Paul was previously married to his first wife, Lorraine Costin, and his second wife, Louise. On 7 July 2024, Paul paid tribute to his wife Kate on her birthday. He wrote on Instagram: “Happy birthday to my darling wife I love you so much xxx”.
Paul has been married to Kate since 2016 and have three children together. Their youngest child was born in 2021. The ex-footballer has other five children from his previous two marriages. Paul credited therapy, his wife, family and faith for overcoming his three decades-long fight with alcohol and gambling.
Ex-England footballer Paul Merson competed in Strictly Come Dancing 2024, where he was paired with professional partner Karen Hauer. In an interview with the BBC, he revealed that he signed up for Strictly because of his mother. He said: “It’s because of my Mum. I always say my Dad played a big role in me becoming a professional footballer, but my Mum doesn’t get the credit she deserves. She loves the show, so it’s nice for her.”
