Staff report based on notification from Alachua Police Department

ALACHUA, Fla. – The suspect has been safely apprehended. Alachua Police Department thanked the public for their assistance and also thanked everyone who called in with tips.

The Alachua Police Department is currently assisting the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office in locating a possibly armed suspect who fled from a vehicle during a traffic stop.

The suspect is described as a younger black male, wearing all black, and possibly carrying a t-shirt and a large stick. He was dirty when he was last seen after running through the woods in the Alachua Highlands area.

The suspect identified himself as “Tyrese” from Santa Fe High School and was asking a local resident to use a phone.

If you see the suspect or have video surveillance footage, contact 911 immediately. Do not approach the individual, as he may be armed. Stay safe and alert!
