GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Lawanaka Latrice Mosley, 36, was arrested yesterday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, using a firearm while intoxicated, and resisting an officer after allegedly threatening another woman with a gun and then firing the gun twice.

At about 6:10 p.m. on October 25, Mosley reportedly got into an argument with another woman at a house in the 400 block of SE 13th Terrace; during the argument, Mosley allegedly said she would get her gun and shoot the victim and then took a gun out of a bag and pointed it at the victim several times while making additional threats to shoot and kill the victim.

Mosley allegedly pointed the gun in the air and fired one round, causing the victim to run to her vehicle to await law enforcement. When Gainesville Police Department officers arrived, they reported seeing Mosley leave the house by a back door and fire a round in an unknown direction. Mosley allegedly ignored lawful commands from officers and instead went back inside, where a gun was reportedly later found inside a bag on a couch.

Officers reported that Mosley appeared to be intoxicated, with alcohol on her breath, bloodshot eyes, and slurred speech.

Mosley reportedly told an officer, “Of course I shot, I have rights, too. I’m not a convicted felon, and they got me f***** up, of course imma shoot.”

A witness reported hearing Mosley say she was going to get her gun, but the witness was unable to see whether Mosley pointed her gun at the victim. The witness reportedly heard Mosley fire a round into the air.

Mosley has no felony convictions and eight misdemeanor convictions, including a conviction on a 2012 charge of firing a weapon in public. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $132,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
