Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Quinton Trevon Robinson, 22, of Citra, was arrested yesterday and charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and one count of child abuse without great bodily harm after allegedly chasing and hitting a vehicle with three people inside.

The responding Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy reported that at about 7:10 p.m. on November 1, Robinson saw a custody exchange at Veterans Memorial Park (7340 SW 41st Place). The deputy reported that Robinson disapproved of the male victim taking custody of the child, and after the male victim put the child into his vehicle, Robinson allegedly pursued the male victim’s vehicle in his own vehicle and tried to run the vehicle off the road or box it in, hitting the victim’s vehicle repeatedly with his own vehicle in an apparent attempt to disable it. A female victim was also in the vehicle with the child and male victim.

The deputy wrote that the impacts were forceful enough to “aggressively jostle” the occupants of the vehicle, throwing them into the doors and other interior surfaces of the vehicle. Both vehicles reportedly had paint transfer and damage consistent with the victims’ account of the incident.

Post Miranda, Robinson reportedly admitted pursuing the vehicle and trying to stop it even after the male victim took evasive action to create distance between the vehicles. He reportedly admitted that the vehicles collided, but he claimed that the contact was initiated by the male victim.

The deputy wrote that Robinson was fully aware that there was a young child inside the vehicle and “continued to perform highly dangerous and erratic vehicle maneuvers upon busy public roadways, placing the victim and general public at tremendous risk.”

Robinson has no criminal convictions in Alachua or Marion Counties. Judge Mitchell Bishop ordered him held without bond pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
