Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Tyree Christopher Young, 27, was arrested yesterday after allegedly breaking his girlfriend’s nose.

At about 7 a.m. on November 8, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a home in Haystacks, where the caller said a woman had knocked on her door; she said the woman was bleeding and not speaking. On his way to the address, the deputy learned that Young, the suspect, may still be in the area.

After his investigation, the deputy reported that the woman and her boyfriend Young had been drinking at their residence when they began wrestling over her phone. Young allegedly hit the victim and knocked her nose ring out; as they continued to fight, Young allegedly punched her in the face, causing her nose to bleed extensively. The deputy reported finding a puddle of blood outside the victim’s residence and another larger puddle of blood nearby. The victim was transported to an emergency room for treatment, and the deputy reported that her nose was broken in two places.

Young also had an active warrant for domestic battery against the same victim, stemming from a September 23 incident. He was previously arrested for domestic battery in July, and although the charges were later dropped, he entered a plea of nolo contendere to a charge of violating pre-trial release conditions and was sentenced to 12 months of probation. He was recently issued a notice to appear for violating probation after the September 23 incident.

Young was reportedly found near a gas station on Archer Road and allegedly ran from deputies on foot. He was apprehended and booked on the warrant and the new charges.

Young has been charged with battery, aggravated battery with bodily harm, and resisting an officer without violence. Judge Adam Lee set bail at $30,000 on the September charges and $25,000 on the new charges.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
