Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Kevin Scott Hall, 37, was arrested yesterday after allegedly fleeing from a police officer who was trying to arrest him for a previous burglary to a business.

At about 9:40 a.m. on November 11, a Gainesville Police Department officer reported seeing Hall riding a bicycle in the 3100 block of NE 15th Street. The officer noted that he knew Hall was wanted for burglarizing a business and stealing a radiator, so he turned on his lights and chirped his sirens, then rolled down his window and called Hall’s name.

The officer reported that Hall fled on his bicycle for about a minute before ditching the bike and climbing two fences into Sweetwater Square Apartments, where the officer lost sight of him for a few minutes; more officers responded, and Hall reportedly surrendered once he realized he was surrounded.

The burglary occurred at 6:24 a.m. on November 3, when Hall allegedly climbed over a locked fence into a lawn care business and stole a $300 radiator. The arresting officer noted that Hall returned to the same business on two additional days, November 4 and November 6, and those charges are pending.

Hall, who is described as homeless on the arrest report, has nine felony convictions (none violent) and 17 misdemeanor convictions (two violent); he has served three state prison sentences, with his most recent release in September 2023. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $70,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
