Jennifer Lopez is no stranger to marriage and divorce. But her split from Ben Affleck in 2024 rocked Hollywood and beyond. The couple rekindled their flame in 2021 after initially falling in love 20 years prior. They tied the knot in 2022, and rumors of a divorce started flying by mid-2024. The exes will continue with their divorce proceedings as 2025 begins.
Lopez spoke to People about her “intense year” and what she hoped for with the holidays. “It was a pretty intense year for me and I’m most looking forward to spending time with my kids and my family coming out from the East Coast,” she explained. “The holidays are such a special time for us and they’ve always been since I was a little girl. And I really look forward to those moments when I can be with my sisters and just relax and have fun and create new memories.”
Lopez added that she loves the “decorations and the hot chocolate and the music and the food” with the holidays. Regarding the new year, she hopes to develop a “deeper connection” to herself and continue to learn.
“I think a lot of it is about a deeper connection to myself and to God,” she explains of her resolution, “making sure we’re checking with ourselves so we can be great for everybody that we love around us.”
Lopez has career goals, too. She wants to push her “boundaries creatively” and see what happens, “whether that’s through acting or music or producing or expanding JLo Beauty.”
“I want to continue challenging myself to evolve and to try new things while all the while being true to who I am and those that I love,” she continued.
Jennifer Lopez would ‘love to have love in her life again,’ according to a source
Jennifer Lopez is known for her many celebrity relationships. However, after she pulled the plug on her marriage to Ben Affleck, she discussed establishing her independence.
“Being in a relationship doesn’t define me,” she told Interview Magazine. “I can’t be looking for happiness in other people. I have to have happiness within myself. I used to say I’m a happy person but was still looking for something for somebody else to fill, and it’s just like, ‘No, I’m actually good.’”
However, a source told DailyMail.com that Lopez would “love to have love in her life again” despite what she said before. “Jen like most people, would love to have love in her life again,” the source alleged. “But the one person she has to give time to right now is herself. If something presents itself, then obviously, life and love find a way, but she isn’t looking to get into any new relationships.”
Ben Affleck is ‘feeling good about himself’ as he enters a new year, a source says
Jennifer Lopez is focusing on herself as she enters 2025. As for Ben Affleck, he hasn’t discussed what occurred in 2024. However, a source told OK! Magazine that “he’s feeling good about himself” after spending the holidays with his first ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.
“Now that Ben’s getting back to his old routine, he’s feeling good about himself,” the source explained. “Spending time with Jen Garner and the kids over the holidays has helped him to feel that everything’s all right in his world again.”
