The attacker remains on the loose, with special forces dispatched to find him in Cetinje, around 18 miles northwest of the capital, Podgorica.

Cops have identified the suspect only by his initials, A.M., and that he is 45 years old, with local media reporting his name Aco Martinovic.

The shooter reportedly opened fire in a bar before fleeing the scene.

Police confirmed at least four people died in the horrific incident.

The state RTCG television said seven people were killed.

It reported that the suspect was in “conflict” with another person at the bar and went home to grab a gun before returning and opening fire.

RTCG also claimed he went on to a second location and killed the bar owner’s children, along with a woman in the heinous attack.

Cops appealed for the residents to remain calm and stay indoors.

They also ruled out a clash between criminal gangs.

Montenegro’s Interior Minister Danilo Saranovic said “a number of people were killed,” which included the bar owner and his family members as well as relatives of the shooter.

But a definitive death roll was not given.

President Jakov Milatovic said he was “shocked and stunned” by the shooting.

He said on X: “Instead of holiday joy, we have been gripped by sadness over the loss of innocent lives.”

Prime Minister Milojko Spajic went to the hospital where the injured were being treated.

Spajic also announced three days of mourning without specifiying how many were killed.

He said: “This is a terrible tragedy that has affected us all.

“All police teams are out.”

Montenegro’s Police Directorate said in a statement: “All available police units are on the ground, undertaking activities within their jurisdiction.”

Mass shootings are a rarity in Montenegro, despite having a deeply-rooted gun culture.
