Police, including officers from the Serious Firearm Crime Investigation Section, went to the man’s property as part of an investigation into the theft of guns from a Quorn property 18 months ago.
Officers searched the property north of Quorn – over 300km north of Adelaide – extensively.
They found five rifles, a pistol and numerous rounds of ammunition buried under a wool bale and logs.
The weapons were seized and will be forensically examined.
The 33-year-old property owner was arrested and has been charged with serious criminal trespass, theft, and breaching an intervention order.
He’s also facing a number of weapons charges, including aggravated possession of a prescribed firearm, which carries a maximum 15-year jail term.
He was refused police bail ahead of his appearance in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court later today.
