This week, there are several new movies available for on-demand viewing, including two films that have been recognized as some of the best films of 2024 by the AFI. Among these movies are the popular musical Wicked, the family comedy-drama A Real Pain starring Jesse Eisenberg, and the new documentary Lady Like.
Interestingly, the release of Lady Like coincides with the premiere of season 17 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. The documentary delves into the backstory of Rex Wheeler’s drag persona, Lady Camden, who was the second-place contestant on season 14 of Drag Race.

If your New Year’s resolutions included holding space for “Defying Gravity” you’re in luck, because one of 2024’s biggest hit movies is available on demand this week. Wicked arrived on VOD on Dec. 31, so if you didn’t catch the star-studded musical featuring Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey, and Jeff Goldblum in theaters, there’s no place like home to finally check it out.
Jesse Eisenberg wrote, directed, and stars in A Real Pain, about two cousins who travel to Poland to honor their deceased grandmother. Kieran Culkin and Eisenberg play the two leads, David and Benji, as they tour the homeland of their Holocaust-surviving grandmother. As they travel the country with a guide (Will Sharpe) as part of a tour group, it becomes clear that they pair are an odd couple whose lifestyles have completely diverged, as buttoned-up David tries to make sense of his more emotional and volatile cousin. Culkin has rightfully earned raves for his performance as the charismatic but untethered Benji. The film is out now on demand.
