JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) —A Washington County Tennessee Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) K9 apprehended a man on Friday after a series of break-ins.

Washington County Sheriff Keith Sexton said in a news release that officers responded to a call shortly before midnight on Thursday regarding a man who allegedly entered a home in the 100 block of Captains Lane while armed with a knife. Following an altercation, a resident managed to drag the man out through the back door. The suspect allegedly threw a shovel through a window before fleeing on foot.

According to the WCSO, the suspect entered another home in the 1800 block of Oak Grove Village by breaking the screen door and falling inside. After the resident there called 911 and told the man to leave, he once again ran away.

The man was identified as Gary S. Carr, 36, of Johnson City.

WCSO K9 Ronin, a certified and trained apprehension canine, tracked Carr roughly ten minutes after he fled into the nearby woods. After Carr failed to come out of the woods, K9 Ronin bit him and brought him to the roadway, where he was arrested, the release states.

Carr was charged with aggravated burglary, vandalism, criminal trespass, resisting arrest and public intoxication.

Carr was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he made his $18,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
