David Humphlett is focused on making a full recovery after being bit by an Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake. The social media star caught the whole thing on camera.

FLORIDA, USA — A social media influencer in Florida has gone viral after surviving a life-threatening rattlesnake bite.

The star, who has millions of followers on Instagram and TikTok, caught the whole thing on camera and has documented his road to recovery.

In the viral YouTube clip, Humphlett can be heard saying “Welp, I’m cooked, that right there is a fantastic eastern diamondback rattlesnake that I just got bit in the leg by.”

Merely seconds after being bitten by the rattlesnake, David Humphlett, or David Orin as many know him by on social media, quickly caught it all on camera.

Humphlett was out in Dixie County spending the day looking for snakes, something you can often see him documenting on his social media pages for his millions of followers.

But this day was unlike any other.

“Internally, I was definitely freaking out,” Humphlett told First Coast News. “My first thought when I got bit was ‘Dang this might lead to me losing my leg’. Once I got in the car my whole body shut down from the venom. You go numb, you go tingly, you can’t feel anything in your body it’s hard to talk, hard to breathe.”

The social media influencer was quickly airlifted to Shands Hospital in Gainesville where he received 88 vials of anti-venom.

“At the hospital, it just felt like my leg was going to explode from the pressure and all my tendons and nerves were just insane. Horrible feeling I mean worse pain in my life for sure,” said Humphlett.

His wife, Emma, was by his side through it all.

“Internally, I say I was uncomfortable and scared but externally I was just staying calm for David,” she told First Coast News.

After spending two weeks in the hospital, Humplett is now back home working on regaining function in his right foot.

While speaking with First Coast News, he gave an update on how he was doing.

“It’s kind of hard to tell on camera that my sock it’s still a little bit swollen,” said Humphlett.

He added he plans on making content again once he’s recovered.

“As soon as I possibly can, Christina, you can’t imagine. I’m really hoping I’m healed up enough to get back out there,” he said.

As he recovers, Humphlett said he will be trusting in his faith in God.

“I’m not mad at that rattlesnake at all. I don’t want people to kill snakes. I hope to make some change through this process and get to people and make them better stewards to God’s creation,” he said.
